Emerson Gutters & Drainage is a Garland-based gutter company on Wall Street, open seven days a week. We clean and repair existing gutters, install seamless 5-inch and 6-inch gutter systems, add gutter guards and fix drainage that sends water back toward the foundation. Every visit starts with a free 25-point inspection and ends with a written estimate, so you know whether you need a cleaning, a repair or a new system before any work begins.
Garland neighborhoods such as Eastern Hills, Spring Park and the older streets around downtown are shaded by live oaks, pecans and cedar elms that drop debris at different times of year. Live oaks shed in spring, pecans and elms in fall, which is why many Garland gutters clog twice a year instead of once. When leaves and roofing grit pack into a gutter, the next heavy storm spills over the edge and lands right beside the foundation.
Our gutter cleaning service removes debris from every run by hand, flushes each downspout to confirm water is flowing, bags the debris and checks the system for loose hangers, leaking seams and pitch problems while we are on the ladder. Most Garland homeowners schedule cleaning in late spring and again in late fall, with an extra visit after a major storm.

Most gutter repair calls in Garland start with one of a few problems: a corner seam that drips during every rain, a section pulling away from the roofline, a downspout knocked loose, or gutters that hold standing water because the pitch has shifted. North Texas hail and high winds add dents, bent hangers and separated joints, especially after spring storm season.
If the rest of the system is sound, we reseal seams, replace hangers, re-pitch sagging runs and reattach or replace downspouts. When water has been running behind the gutter for a while, the fascia board it is mounted to can soften and rot, and we will point that out during the inspection so it can be addressed before new gutters are hung on damaged wood. If repairs would cost close to a new system, the written estimate will say so.

Seamless gutters are formed on site from a continuous coil, so each run is one piece from corner to corner. With no joints along the straight sections, there are fewer places for leaks to start. The main decision for most Garland homes is gutter size.
| Gutter size | Best suited for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| 5-inch K-style | Most single-story ranch homes and moderate roof pitches | The standard residential size and the lower-cost option. Works well when roof sections are small and downspouts are spaced correctly. |
| 6-inch K-style | Two-story homes, steep roofs, large roof sections and valleys that funnel water into one spot | Carries roughly 40 percent more water than a 5-inch gutter and pairs with larger downspouts. A strong choice for the heavy, fast spring downpours common in North Texas. |
| Sectional or vinyl gutters | Short DIY runs and sheds | Joined every 10 to 20 feet, so every joint is a potential leak. Vinyl can become brittle and warp after years of Texas summer heat. |
Not sure which size fits your roof? We measure roof area and pitch during the free inspection and recommend a size and downspout layout in the written estimate. See Garland seamless gutter installation .

When water still pools near the house after it leaves the gutters, we plan the fix around the property: downspout extensions, buried downspout lines, surface grading or a French drain that carries runoff away from the foundation and toward the street or a lower part of the yard.
Garland French drain systemsMuch of Garland sits on Blackland Prairie clay, the same expansive soil found across Dallas County. It swells when it soaks up water and shrinks as it dries, and when a gutter overflows or a downspout dumps water beside the slab, the soil on that side of the house moves more than the rest. Over time that uneven movement shows up as cracked drywall, sticking doors and slab foundation repairs.
That is why we look at the whole water path during every visit, from the roof edge to where the water finally leaves your lot, whether your home is near Firewheel, along the Lake Ray Hubbard side of town, close to Duck Creek or in one of the established neighborhoods south of downtown.
Before we recommend cleaning, repair or replacement, we inspect the existing gutters, downspouts, fascia and drainage around the home. You get a written estimate that explains what we found and what we recommend, with no obligation.
These are typical national price ranges to help you budget. Your Garland estimate is based on the measured footage, height and condition of your home.
| Service | Typical range | What changes the price |
|---|---|---|
| Gutter cleaning | About $120 to $235 for most homes, around $168 on average | Number of stories, total footage, debris level and downspout clogs |
| Gutter repair | Quoted after inspection | Number of seams, hangers or sections involved and whether fascia is damaged |
| Seamless aluminum gutters | About $9 to $13 per linear foot installed | 5-inch or 6-inch size, downspout count, corners and roof height |
| Gutter guards | Quoted after inspection | Guard type, total footage and roof access |
| French drains and drainage | Quoted after inspection | Length of the run, grade, discharge point and soil conditions |

Most homes pay about $120 to $235 for professional gutter cleaning, with the national average around $168. Two-story homes, long gutter runs and heavily clogged downspouts cost more. Emerson provides a written price for your Garland home after a free inspection.
Twice a year works for most Garland homes: once in late spring after live oaks shed and again in late fall after pecans and elms drop their leaves. Homes under heavy tree cover or without gutter guards may need a third cleaning after major storms.
A 5-inch gutter handles most single-story homes with moderate roof pitch. A 6-inch gutter carries roughly 40 percent more water and is the better choice for two-story homes, steep roofs and roof valleys that concentrate runoff. Emerson measures roof area and pitch during the inspection and recommends the size in the written estimate.
Seamless gutters are formed on site as one continuous piece for each run, so they have no joints along straight sections where leaks usually start. Sectional gutters are joined every 10 to 20 feet, and each joint is a potential leak point as sealant ages in Texas heat.
Often, yes. Leaking seams, loose hangers, sagging runs and detached downspouts can usually be repaired when the rest of the system is in good condition. If repairs would cost close to a new seamless system, or the gutters are badly damaged by hail, replacement is usually the better value.
Fascia damage usually comes from water running behind a clogged, overflowing or poorly pitched gutter. Over time the wood softens and rots, and gutter hangers lose their grip. Emerson checks fascia condition during every inspection so damaged boards can be addressed before gutters are reattached or replaced.
Gutter guards are worth considering for Garland homes under oak, pecan or elm trees because they keep most leaves out of the channel and reduce how often cleaning is needed. They are not maintenance-free, and guards and gutters should still be checked periodically.
Gutters collect roof water, but downspouts that discharge right beside the house or into low spots send it back toward the foundation. On Garland's expansive clay soil that can lead to uneven foundation movement. Downspout extensions, buried downspout lines or a French drain can carry the water away.
